Augustus – Privacy Policy

🔒 Our Core Privacy Commitment

      Augustus is built on a simple principle: your data never leaves your device. We do not operate servers, we do not collect analytics, and we do not have access to your recordings, notes, or personal profiles — ever.
    

This Privacy Policy describes what information Augustus processes, where it lives, and how it is used. Please read it carefully.

📋 Information We Do NOT Collect

Augustus does not collect, transmit, store remotely, or share any of the following:

Audio recordings or meeting transcripts
Meeting notes or AI-generated summaries
Speaker profiles or Mind Palace data
Your name, email address, or any account information
Device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data
Usage analytics, crash reports, or behavioral data
Your Google AI Studio API key (stored only on-device via the iOS Keychain)

📱 Data Stored On Your Device

All data created by Augustus is stored exclusively on your iPhone in a location you choose. This includes:

Audio recordings – raw audio files from each meeting session
Meeting notes – AI-generated transcripts and summaries per session
Speaker profiles – unique speaker identities and associated names you assign
Mind Palace profiles – individual communication profiles built over time per speaker
Local voice database – voice samples and linked speaker names, stored in an on-device SQLite database
API key – your Google Gemini API key, stored securely in the iOS Keychain

      You control where your data lives. Augustus allows you to select the folder location for all saved files directly within the app.
    

🤖 Third-Party AI (Google Gemini)

Augustus uses the Google Gemini API to process audio and generate meeting notes and speaker profiles. This requires you to provide your own API key from Google AI Studio.

Audio and text data is sent directly from your device to Google's Gemini API using your personal API key
Augustus never intercepts, proxies, or stores data sent to or received from the Gemini API
Google's processing of your data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and the Google AI Studio Terms of Service
We strongly recommend reviewing Google's data handling practices at ai.google.dev
You are solely responsible for your usage of the Gemini API and compliance with Google's terms

🎙️ Microphone & Audio Access

Augustus requests access to your device microphone solely to record meeting audio. Required Permission

Microphone access is only active when you explicitly start a recording session
Audio is never streamed, uploaded to our servers, or shared with any party other than the Google Gemini API (via your own key)
You can revoke microphone permission at any time in iOS Settings — this will disable recording functionality

📁 File System Access

Augustus requests access to your chosen file storage location to save and retrieve meeting recordings and notes. Required Permission

Access is scoped only to the folder you explicitly select
No files outside your selected folder are accessed or modified
You can change or revoke folder access at any time in iOS Settings

🔑 API Key Security

Your Google Gemini API key is stored using Apple's iOS Keychain — the most secure on-device storage mechanism available on iOS.

The key is encrypted at rest by the iOS Keychain
It is never transmitted to Augustus servers (which do not exist)
It is only used to authenticate requests you initiate to the Google Gemini API
Deleting the app removes the key from the Keychain entirely

👶 Children's Privacy

Augustus is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used this app in a way that raises privacy concerns, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

🌍 International Users

Augustus does not transfer any personal data internationally — because it collects none. However, when you use your Google Gemini API key, data sent to Google may be processed in data centers outside your country. This is governed by Google's terms, not ours.

🔄 Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via an in-app message. Continued use of Augustus after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
